Artist's Comments

As with all artistic endeavors, the STIR project layout is constantly in a state of "work in progress".

Here is the current concept. You'll notice that this process of re-thinking and re-development allows me to refine the concept and get closer to what I want in terms of a final product.

Please ignore the text content you see currently in the articles section because its just jibberish for now.

The background cuts off short near the middle of the site to create a mental shift into reading mode as people scroll down. Initially the screen is dominated by a splash of imagery when you first come to the site, upon scrolling reveals a refreshing and more comfortable reading experience... Kind of like opening a magazine and going to the table of contents.

The empty side to the right will be used for community related notifications, contests, model searches, local hotties (yes in your city), featured members, recent comments, (advertising *cough*), random videos, girl of the day, etc..

WRITERS:

I'm on the lookout for talented writers to write short snappy articles in classic not-so-serious men's lifestyle fashion. For now, the thinkpieces will be written by me. Writers on the site will share a percentage of the ad revenue that your articles generate.. so if you're a talented writer who knows the audience well, you can share in the profits. My photography team and designers will support your articles with snappy and sexy images. The goal is to inform (20%) and to entertain (80%). Articles will be quite short to stave off the boredom of reading online. No more than 100-150 words on the humourous, the odd, the absurd, the cool, the inspiring, the useful, the sexy, the intricate, or the curious. A detailed editorial formula will be discussed and the readership demographic will be described when you are accepted. Send me an email or note me if you are interested.

Anyway... i should stop typing and either play Dota or work on finishing off the layout...

Clean, well organized...Very very good, aside from the slight pixilation of the big picture. I like it ^-^

looks good, but text needs to be in smooth fonts for ease to read :D. For EX. " Clear type" fonts settings on Display properties. APpearance, effects / smooth fonts :D

Not bad. I think you need to be consistent with the type for the girl's names at the bottom (if not throughout). The treatment you used for Jaslyn works. Not so big on the others. Is the typeface for STIR a final or prototype? It's looking more like STUFF's typeface. Think S.W.O.T. (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threats). I can see the influence but take it further. Your photos are great, so where ever they are should be great too. Can't wait to see this up and running!

If you intend to have professional ad space on the site, you should take the IAB Ad Unit Guidelines [link] into account when laying out your base grid. I dont know if you already did. I am too lazy to measure.

great observation, raphy. you're right i need to either make the girls names consistent with the rest of the site, or distinctively different, not in-between. The STIR font is final. yes it does look like Stuff a tad. I struggled with this because I fell in love with the font and it captured alot of the 'fun' that i wanted the site to have. We went through about a dozen font styles during the logo development----> [link]

and.. lucky for us.. Stuff folded into maxim so the style will be ALL MINE j/k
